The Essex Green Weekend is an opportunity for community groups, faith groups and anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of how they can take climate action, celebrate action taken to reduce carbon emissions and improve climate action and network and connect with others who are pursuing local climate action. The Weekend will benefit people that are taking action, enabling them to connect with likeminded people, and support people who are interested in taking more action to address climate change. There will be talks, workshops and activities on carbon neutral energy and heating, including a tour of Othona’s facilities; introducing wildlife habitats and improving biodiversity; sustainable food including growing your own and reducing food waste including using excess supermarket food; and reducing consumption, reusing waste and encouraging recycling e.g. through repair cafes. There will also be live music, food and a beer tent.
