The Southend in Transition team do a seed share event to capture the interest of all the keen gardeners.
The sharing of seed is an ancient practice, ensuring the survival of the human species, the local biodiversity of life, as well as local food security.
We save seeds from our allotment and gardens; we have packets of commercial seeds that people donate to us and people come along on the day with seeds. There is no requirement to bring seeds to swap.
There was a steady stream of people browsing the stall and it was great to chat with experienced growers and beginners, sharing advice as well as seeds. Our book stall did brisk business too.
