Do you know what you can put in your garden waste and what happens to it?
Garden waste collections are for items such as grass cuttings, plants and flowers, weeds, leaves, and hedge and shrub clippings.
When garden waste is collected, it is taken to an Open Windrow Composting facility. Take a look at this video to see how it is transformed into a healthy compost for use by farmers, growers and householders.
It’s important to make sure we keep other materials out of the garden waste bin as they could damage machinery and reduce the quality of the compost. Things such as plastic trays, paper, cardboard, soil, stones and rubble should never be put with your garden waste.
