Just a note to respond to the kind words I have received regarding my involvement in setting-up and hosting SEEOG’s first full online/virtual members’ meeting, with guest speaker. I am delighted that it generally went well – and it was certainly a ‘learning experience’ for me. It was also good to meet Bradley from FareShare and hear of the excellent and important work they are doing.
I have no crystal ball, but I imagine that the need to run meetings ‘virtually’ will be with us for some time – and this will probably become part of the “new normal”. I do not know what numbers you had for the ‘real’ meetings; but I suspect there may have been a few who would have been put-off or worried by the technical aspects, or even just shyness!
Please don’t be. Most of us are new to this – but there is nothing that cannot be overcome. SEEOG now has the ability to reach-out and pull-in many, many more people than before. Technical issues can be dealt-with, if addressed before the night of the meeting and if you are shy – you can always join with your video off. Nobody is going to force you to turn it on.
