FROG representatives Ross and Judy had a very positive meeting (this week) with representatives from Coventry University’s Vice Chancellor’s Office and the Centre for Agro-ecology, Water and Resilience [CAWR], the University’s research facility which is based on the site. The University representatives emphasised there is a commitment to retaining the organic status of the site, and said that the University had bought the site with the aim of protecting it for the existing research centre. CAWR also hopes to use the site to strengthen the university’s research into sustainable development. There has been a strong indication that the individual gardens will be retained and maintained as far as possible, although they are not sure how that will be managed. FROG has been invited by CAWR to join the stakeholder group which will have input into the future plans for Ryton Organic Gardens.
