We are sad to report that Joan, Ron’s predecessor, died recently. Joan joined SEEOG around March 1997 and was a keen and enthusiastic supporter until failing health forced her to resign in 2006. She fully supported all our fund-raising events: our annual plant sale in her front garden (plus lunch for all helpers at end of sale) and by growing plants for our farmers’ market sales. Joan and George picked damsons in Violet’s garden for many years and made jam to sell. On one occasion, we remember Joan and George helping out at one of the Rochford markets – and bagging and selling plums non-stop!
