Don’t Let Fruit & Veg Go to Waste this Autumn
The Recycle for Essex team have produced a fantastic new recipe card to help residents make the most of leftover fruit and veg this autumn.
The recipe for ‘Glutney’ is perfect for residents who have found themselves with a glut of extra fruit and veg, and makes a delicious chutney which can be enjoyed throughout the colder months.
The recipe was created by celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and is perfect for using leftover items including courgettes, marrow, pumpkin, tomatoes and apples. To download the recipe card for free visit www.recycleforessex.co.uk.
Creating tasty meals from leftovers is one way that residents can help to reduce the amount of food waste they create. Research shows that £12 billion of good food is thrown away each year by UK households, and four million tonnes of household food waste still ends up in landfill every year.
