As part of the nation-wide BIG DIG event, which aims to encourage us all to grow our own food, the local Women’s Environmental Network group held an open day at their community allotment at Manchester Drive, Leigh on Sea, on Saturday 16th March.

Unfortunately the weather was pretty dire – wet, cold and windy – so only the group’s stalwart few turned up and they didn’t manage to get much digging done! It was just a question of clearing the shed so that seven chairs could be squeezed in ready for a cuppa and chat, with plans being made for the coming growing season.
