Progressio’s Development Workers are supporting local communities on the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic to grow their way out of poverty through training farmers how to improve their crop yields; to grow more nutritious food, increase their income so families can afford medical care and education for their children, whilst helping people to look after the environment and to respond to the challenges brought by climate change.
Food for a better future is an online project which aims to raise money to support these small-scale farmers, giving weekly updates to supporters to demonstrate the challenges faced by development workers and the achievements of local communities. You can support the work directly by visiting www.progressio.org.uk/food-for-a-better-future and see the impact your support is having on local communities.
The actual project can be found here: www.progressio.org.uk/food-for-a-better-future
There is a video which summarises the project, too.
