Apple Day 2013 Remembered

A tad late, but a very pleasant reminder of a most relaxing day (or half-day) at Trust Links’ Apple Day 2013, St. Laurence Orchard, Eastwood. We had a stall selling apples from mainly Barnards Farm and friends’ gardens, picked by SEEOG members and friends.

Leigh-on-Sea Allotments Orchard (aka The Essex Varieties Orchard) Situated within the bounds of the Leigh Allotments is a gem of a conservation project, dedicated to preserving Essex top fruit (apple and pear) varieties. Currently, roughly a quarter acre (four allotment plots) in extent, the orchard is surrounded by a native species hedge.
